This past Memorial Day weekend, I attended the Afro Nation Festival in Miami with my friend Alyssa. We had been planning this trip for months and talking about going to this festival nonstop til the day finally arrived.
I love afro beats & amapiano music and this was the only place to be in Miami that weekend! I swear every Black/African person in town was there for the festival or the celebrity afterparties. It genuinely felt good to be in an energetic space with my people and no BS was happening. Especially on Memorial Day Weekend! (IYKYK)
During my visit in Miami, I stayed at a new-to-me hotel/condominium called Nomada Destination Residences. The pictures of this hotel sold me on booking my room here, with modern decor and resort style amenities. I was ready to wake up with a view of the city every morning! Plus they had good reviews so I was willing to take the chance.
Thankfully, I've been having some good hotel experience in Miami these past couple months and I want to share 2 of my favorite Miami Hotel locations from this year. I'll definitely be staying at these locations again and continue to explore new spots in Miami that you can stay at too.
I qualify a hotel, hostel, or condominium as my "favorite" based on:
Location
Amenities
Staff Service
Cleanliness
Decor
Price
This is based on my experience and you may have a different experience at these locations, but let this be a guide to help you choose where you'll be staying in Miami on your next trip.

Everything was working properly, clean and available for us to use
Staff Service: (I wasn't pleased!) Ok, I have to be real here. We arrived early and couldn't get into our room, someone checked out late from our room so we couldn't check in early. It took 3 staff members for us to get an understanding of what was going on with the room. With that being said, I think some of the staff at the front desk need a refresh on customer service best practices and how to treat customers.
Cleanliness
I saw blonde hair in my shower and I'm not blonde so...
Very clean bedroom area
The kitchen was spotless
Property was clean overall
Decor
Lots of white, black, with gold fixtures
It felt very "homey, but better than my home"
Lots of light and big windows in the room
Price: $1,000 for 4 days/3 nights; more than what I normally pay for a long weekend in Miami but worth every penny.
Overall: 8.5/10!

Complementary secure luggage storage
Everything was working properly, clean and available for us to use
Staff Service: This Sonder location has some of the friendliest people I've met while staying in Miami. On arrival, our room wasn't ready yet and we had lots of luggage with us. Although we couldn't check in yet, Maria (who worked at the front desk) was kind and caring towards myself and my mother. She made sure we were comfortable despite our wait, and gave us some suggestions of where we could go while we waited for the room to be ready.
Cleanliness
The room was spotless and squeaky clean, 10/10.
No stray hairs in the bed or shower from the previous guest which I am always surprised by.
Downstairs lobby was clean, including the coffee/tea station.
Hallways were clean, but this is an older building and you can tell in the hallways.
Decor
Minimalist decor with white and tan colors, new-looking wood furniture
Bathrooms had black marble-like tiles and white countertops
Lobby decor was simple, had a homey-feel, designed for working guests
Price:
$400 for 3 days/2 nights; average for what I would pay in Miami Beach.
Unbeatable price for the location
Overall: 9/10!
